"Even though this is a very old recipe, I thought it might be something new to the "young whipper-snappers" who have recently joined Zaar. It was always a popular appetizer."

  1. What a great alternative to bacon wrapped oysters (en brochette). I love those but some people freak out on the oyster idea. So, I made some non-seafood appetizers like this and they sure went quick. I brought them out onto paper towels to make sure no hot grease was pocketed away! The crunchy sweetened water chestnuts are awesome. Thanks in helping me please everyone!

  2. Easy and good! Thanks for posting this. :)

  3. I made these appetizers for our couple's Bible study get together at Christmas time. I only made one batch. They were gone instantly. When our Valentine's Day get together was approaching these were requested. I also found out that they had been made by several couples in the mean time. They are so easy and everyone loves them.

  4. I have been making these for 30 years and they are always a HUGE hit! They're requested most every time I ask "Is there anything I can bring?". Personally, I only soak them in soy sauce for 30 minutes or I find them to be too salty. Be sure not to use colored toothpicks or the color will bleed into the chestnuts :-( Also, I look for the "center cut bacon" to go on sale--worth the extra $ because there's much less trimming (and waste). Enjoy!!

  5. I needed a healthy snack recipe with a "W" for an event and I made this using turkey bacon and instead of baking in oven cooked in microwave as the package directed for the bacon. They were gone in a flash

Once I discovered Zaar, I never looked back at the other sites. This place is truly like family, sitting around sharing great recipes, helpful hints and just chit-chatting about our daily lives.Hubby and I were fortunate enough to be able to retire early and now enjoy traveling in our motorhome :) . Our travels have taken us all over this great country of ours and meeting new and exciting people along the way is an extra bonus. We are blessed. We usually alternate between Florida Keys and Arizona for the winters. The rest of the year, you can find us just about any place. We love our home on the lake, but there is a bit of gypsy in us both and we hit the road as much as we possibly can.I subscribe to Taste of Home and own EVERY Southern Living Annual since 1979.I guess my biggest pet peeve is people who are negative all the time. Because I enjoy life so much, I try to avoid such people. Life is too short.
